I think when you’re alone, all you can really do is think and analyze situations that you try to avoid. Sometimes, over and over in your head and it just grows. A little problem or annoyances can always be a gateway to bigger problems you didn’t want to accept. You even start to wonder what went wrong or when/how did things changed.
I never allow myself to get close to people, at least not close enough. But when I do allow others in, I get close, and I get personal. I give it my all. I can only say a rare few have broken down my barriers and got inside of my heart. There are also certain friendships where you don’t have to talk to the person all of the time, but you both remain close no matter what; regardless of distance or different schedules.
I’ve had my fair share of letting go of friendships I didn’t think was worth it. What I don’t understand is how someone can guilt trip me from the start, continuously doing so, when their efforts doesn’t even meet mine halfway. Not even one third of the way. If I’m trying really hard to be there, to put forth effort to text, Facebook, call, comment, whatever it is, do the same back. I always do the human thing where I try to be understanding, where I try to put myself in the other person’s shoes and try to be patient but sometimes, enough is enough. I am not going to sit around and wait for someone to finally put in time nor am I willing to accept any mere scrap of effort. I’m not those who settle for less. I only want what’s best for me in my life. Whether it’s the best boyfriend, family, job, friends; I want the best of the best. Let it be as it may, I am moving on and letting go of friendships that are not working out.
