"Fashion can be bought but style one must possess."

There's being overrated in a good way and there's being overrated in a bad way and that brought my attention to fashion. Certain fashion trends this year are completely overrated. In a very, very bad way. I thank Tumblr for that. The website now mostly consist of girls/models in nice clothes, make up, accessories, hair styles, anything and everything. Just about anyone on the other side of the computer screen can duplicate that outfit/look with no effort at all. Even a big ole guy can put on the exact outfit and claim he has style. A lot of people think just because they purchase or possess a well-known item or what everyone has it makes them "fashionable." Well, it doesn't. Just because you have this years latest combat boots, doesn't mean you know how to work it. Or that impecable dress that you decide to sport with hideous gladiator sandals.

Don't get me wrong, I can be as trendy as the next person you see on the street with my high-waisted shorts and cut up shirts, but for me, at least I don't consider myself fashionable at all or try to perceive myself to be that way. As shallow and self-absorbed as it sounds, I honestly just wear whatever makes me look good or I purchase what is appealing to me. I don't have a certain style, although many have labeled me as a hipster (which I hate), but if you asked me what my style was, I'll say 'comfortable.' My style is comfort. I wear what I feel comfortable in and I don't otherwise.

I think it's very true what Coco Chanel said,"Fashion can be bought but style one must possess." Just because you own whatever everyone else owns and call it fashion, doesn't mean you have style or know how to put it together. I understand fashion and clothes allow you to be whoever you want to be, even if it's just for a day. But I'm disappointed and unimpressed how anything can be considered fashionable nowadays. Put on ripped up tights and Jeffrey Campbells and you are the most fashionablest person ever. But underneath all of that, you're still the same person you were yesterday, last week, couple months ago. Fashion doesn't make up for personality. That's the thing I hate about trends. They display people to be someone they're not, they're just like everyone else, and eventually the value of the brand, the item doesn't have any meaning. What meaning you ask? Well, originality and individuality. Which is something a lot of people don't have anymore or lack. Days go by and I become less and less impressed by the styles display on Tumblr/Lookbook.nu/Blogspot, even someone I meet, just because everything and everyone dress the same. Maybe if for a second people start to care more about what's in their head and not what's on it, then maybe for a second, they'll have their own sense of style, not someone else's.

***Excuse some of my grammatical mistakes and errors, I have been sick for the past week and currently on medication. A drowsy writer is never a good writer, but then again, most writers back in the days were always intoxicated pouring their love out onto paper, or desperately needing to put their thoughts somewhere. And I have no time to proofread, my creamy tomato soup is boiling.

"Making money is art and working is art and good business is the best art."

I had the rare opportunity recently to see Miss Kawasaki in person at one of the art galleries, but sadly, I had work. She's such an amazing artist and her art is so distinct. Even though her work may be displayed everywhere on Tumblr, or by people who don't even know who she is, it doesn't matter. That's the thing I love about art. Although it may be overlooked and sometimes overrated, it's the good kind. You and everyone who has seen that piece all feel the same way. We admire it the same way and that says a lot for the artist and that's something they would want; to be recognized for their work and passion.

The ups, the downs, and everything in between.

A few days ago, Johnson and I finally visited Venice Beach. As you all know, they're very well known for their filled up walls with artsy graffiti and such stores that is not appropriate to name, but let me tell you, Venice Beach is not what it used to be. For the longest time that I can remember, Venice beach was and has always been a place that is family-friendly like Santa Monica Pier. Now, I wouldn't consider taking my mom for a nice hang out date. Even if I did, she'd either be entertained or just startled by all the craziness that goes on. I do enjoy the liveliness and a few of the graffiti pieces, but nonetheless, I enjoy my long night strolls at Huntington Beach and Corona Del Mar. Night life on Main St. is my favorite =) I grew up being in Huntington/Newport Beach almost all of my life, and I can say that it will forever be one of my favorite places to go. Might I add, PCH hot dogs > Venice Beach hot dogs, although they had churro/funnel cake vendors which I loveee.

With the Lakers losing two games in a row to the Mavs, my mood hasn't been uppity as usual. To a lot of people it's just a game, but to me it's more. This is my childhood and this is my team. It's best out of 7 series and a lot of Lakers haters are already making it seem as if Lakers have already lost the whole thing. I have faith in my team and I say, and I really do hope, they're going to step up their game. They should've learn from the first game, but that's why they say third time's a charm.

Across the universe,

Lately I've been doing nothing but painting lyrics all over my room, reading, bundling myself up in my blanket and falling asleep to either old films or The Beatles. In the past couple of weeks, I've also got Johnson to listen to The Beatles, more indie music, and he actually enjoys it =) If only I could get him to be more interested in basketball...He has also released his Spring collection for his clothing line =) I am more than proud of him.

Summer is almost here and I've been trying to condition myself to go out in the sun. Unfortunately, the sun isn't ever nice to me. I get sunburn way too easily, even when I'm driving. That doesn't stop me from itching for outdoor adventures, though. I am egggcited for the many events this upcoming Summer. A few years ago my Summer would mostly consist of only the beach, camping, hiking, concerts, and late-night adventures until the sun rises. This Summer, I am determine to be even more active and eventful. For one, I am extremely excited to finally redecorate my room. Paint job, new furniture, etc. Something I've been anxiously waiting for. I've also been dying to go kayaking/the cove to touch the moon jellyfish. They're not poisonous and do not sting humans. Also, I want to apply myself to more cancer awareness events. The Breast Cancer Walk in October was a success, and I look forward to the Alzheimer's Walk this May. I also want to discover more dessert joints, specifically ice cream joints. Perfect for Summer! I will also be attending the Lykke Li concert in August, trying to be hopeful for Bright Eyes, and if I am the luckiest girl on Earth, Britney and Katy Perry :")

I also really want to go to Australia this Summer to finally meet my gramps, since he's getting older and yet, I still have not met this man. I've never really met my other grandpa on my mom's side either. He passed away before I could even retain any memories of meeting him. All I know about him is that he had very pretty blue eyes. I would love to have the chance to go through life knowing my grandpa while he's still alive. Kimberly recently bought us both a piggy bank. I named mine Charlotte, and on our piggy banks it says Vacay Fund and I'm determine to save up money :") Even if it takes awhile. By the end of this year, I must go back to San Fran and visit my home. I miss the weather, I miss the drives around the city, I miss the Chinese restaurants that are open 'til 2 in the morning. I honestly think that's where I'll choose to live and spend the rest of my life. Still traveling of course.

I haven't gone to the gym in a week, but thank goodness for a high metabolism that I don't ever gain any weight. Beach bod, check. Endless bathing suits, check. Extremely crazy, long wavy hair, check. The only thing I need is for my Paul Frank beach cruiser to get fixed so I can ride it around and soak up the sun.

All you need is love xx.
